Today, Via Christi Health is the largest provider of health care services in Kansas. Position Summary: Coaches and facilitates around all HR business facets to leadership. Serves as a link between HR and leadership for staffing, employee relations, basic legal issues, and application of policies and procedures. Supports employees by acting as liaison for HR related issues. Facilitates labor/management relations. Utilizes knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations in dealing with employee issues in accordance with Via Christi policies and procedures. Understands designated business units and partners with members of Via Christi management to provide human resource support. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Serves as primary point of contact for ministry leadership for Human Resources issues, including but not limited to: employee relations; disciplinary action; investigations for complaints of discrimination, harassment or violence in the workplace; compensation practices; position eliminations; changes to departmental structure; employment and HR process improvement. Maintains adequate documentation related to these issues. Establishes positive working relationship with assigned departmental leadership to insure appropriate laws, regulations, and policies are upheld. Provides consultation and recommendations to leadership in matters of disciplinary action and termination of employees while ensuring compliance with any appropriate employment laws and regulations, and Via Christi policies to reduce legal risk to the organization. Develops knowledge of departments supported by regularly meeting with management, attending department staff meetings and rounding through areas. Makes proactive suggestions to improve employee relations through observation, review of metrics and listening. Prepares documentation for and participates in unemployment hearings for the organization. Works with Via Christi Legal Counsel when necessary to prepare or provide documentation for legal cases or claims against the organization. Works with Via Christi Compliance office to investigate hot line calls and other HR related compliance issues. Trends employee relations activities throughout the organization to provide data to Human Resources leadership for the development of training and education. Partners with Organizational development and participates in the development of education materials and training modules for leadership as requested. Serves as liaison for HR groups in research and development of new processes, policies and projects. Makes recommendations as appropriate, identifies roadblocks and process improvement opportunities. Provides analysis and designs metrics needed to support business units. Provides ad hoc reporting for HR and Via Christi departments.
