Position Summary: Member of the ministry management team involved in strategic organizational development. Manages functional areas including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, payroll, employee relations, recruiting and retention, training and development and the human resource information system. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Works cooperatively with Via Christi Villages, Inc., CEO/Administrator, consultants, and ministry staff in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the human resource services and programs. Serves as resource for Total Rewards questions or concerns. Educates and counsels regarding employee laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains employee-related data bases. Prepares reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and ministry. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested. Guides the process to ensure employees’ technical, professional and managerial training and development needs are met. Manages the recruitment process using VCV recruiting and hiring practicesand policies. Participates in employee performance evaluation processes and succession plans. Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. Participates in the investigation and resolution of employee grievances. Assists with ministry safety and health programs. Tracks and posts OSHA-required data and files reports. Protects the interests of the ministry by assuring adherence to all state and federal laws and regulations regarding employment. Partners with management to develop and disseminate effective communication practices. Helps monitor the organizational cultureso that it supports the attainment of the VC Mission and promotes employee satisfaction. Assists in the payroll process as needed. May perform other duties as assigned or requested Management Responsibilities: Coach and provide career development to HR staff. Establish employee goals and conduct HR employee performance reviews. Responsible for HR staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, time off, breaks and overtime assignments. Schedule and conduct HR department meetings. Supervise staff in accordance with Via Christi policies and procedures.
