General Description of Position:

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning (LARCP) in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign) at Kansas State University is seeking qualified candidates to teach landscape architecture design studios and other courses in the core curricula as a Tenure-track Assistant Professor. We are specifically seeking candidates with professional, pedagogical, or scholarly expertise in analogue and digital drawing and modeling as part of foundational design workflow. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to shape the content of a newly restructured curriculum. The position opening is a nine-month tenure-track faculty appointment in the Landscape Architecture program. The successful candidate will teach, develop their research, scholarship and creative activities, and make professional service contributions in a program dedicated to being a catalyst for excellence and a preeminent choice for graduate education in landscape architecture.

The Successful Candidate will:

The successful candidate primarily will contribute to delivering introductory and mid-level design studios and other core courses in the curriculum. The successful candidate may also support teaching in the design implementation sequence. All LARCP faculty participate in graduate research committees and have opportunities for developing and delivering advanced studios, seminars, and electives.

As a member of the LARCP faculty, the successful candidate will:

Deliver creative, effective teaching in the core curricula.
Engage in significant research, scholarship, and/or creative activities.
Supervise independent graduate research.
Participate in departmental governance.
Participate in university and professional service.
Contribute to an environment that fosters diversity and collegiality.
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Master of Landscape Architecture; or Bachelor of Landscape Architecture with a master’s degree in a closely allied discipline.
Professional, pedagogical, or scholarly experience in analogue and digital drawing and modeling.
Evidence of ability to deliver inspired foundational and mid-level design studio teaching.
Demonstrated capacity for research, scholarship, and/or creative activity with a focused agenda.
Candidates must be qualified for membership on the KSU Graduate Faculty.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience, licensure, and/or Ph.D. in landscape architecture or closely allied discipline.
And one or more of the following:

Professional and/or academic distinction as evidenced by regional and/or national recognition.
Expertise in applying the Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D) to design and construction documentation workflow.
Experience with digital fabrication software and equipment, including Grasshopper, Rhino, CNC router, 3D printer, laser cutter, and/or other software and equipment.
Experience in construction implementation at the site and/or master plan scale. Areas of specialty may include green infrastructure, stormwater management, construction materials and methods, landform manipulation, and/or planned communities.
Ability to teach subject matter in urban design, real estate finance, and/or urban resilience.
